Valentin Feneberg is a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Public Policy and Law at Leuphana University Lüneburg. He previously worked as a research assistant at the German Center for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM) and served as a research coordinator and researcher at the Integrative Research Institute Law & Society at Humboldt University Berlin. Valentin specializes in socio-legal and migration studies, with a focus on asylum procedures, the judicial use of Country of Origin Information (COI), complementary protection, poverty as grounds for humanitarian protection, refugee status determination in cases of draft evasion or conscientious objection, and assisted return policies. In Trinity Term 2024, he was a visiting research fellow at the Centre for Refugee Studies and the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at the University of Oxford. Valentin is a co-editor of the German Journal of Forced Migration and Refugee Studies.
